Returns and Refunds Policy

Boot sizing is harder than apparel sizing. Calf leather flexes, the last shape sits different on different feet, and the US/UK conversion adds half a size of doubt either way. The return policy below was written with that in mind.

The 30-day window

You have 30 days from the day your boots are delivered to start a return. The 30 days runs from the courier's recorded delivery date, not from the order date.

What we accept back

Boots have to come back unworn, in their original shoebox, with the dust bag and any paperwork that came with them. Try the boots on a clean indoor surface. Carpet is fine. Hardwood is fine. Sidewalk is not. We inspect every return when it arrives. Pairs that come back with sole wear, scuffs on the toe, or wear on the heel cannot be refunded; we will write to you with photographs to talk through the next step.

What is not returnable

  • Boots worn outside. Sole tread, gravel residue, dust on the welt, and creasing across the vamp from a real walk all put the pair outside the return condition.
  • Final-sale clearance. Pairs marked "final sale" at the moment of purchase, typically end-of-workshop remainders, are not eligible for return.
  • Gift cards. Once issued, gift cards cannot be returned for cash.

How to start a return

Write to support@yardlowandsons.com with your order number and a sentence about why the pair is coming back. We send a return authorization (RMA) and the address to ship to. Returns received without an RMA cannot be processed.

Who pays for return shipping

Return shipping is the customer's responsibility unless the pair arrived defective or was sent in error from our side. In those cases, we cover the return shipping in full and we ask for photographs first so the issue can be documented for the courier claim. We recommend any return be sent with tracking. We cannot refund a pair that does not arrive.

Refund timing and method

Once the return arrives at our fulfillment partner and passes inspection, the refund is issued in 5 to 10 business days. Refunds go to the original payment method. Your bank typically takes another 2 to 5 business days to land it back on your statement, depending on the card.

Damaged or defective on arrival

If a pair arrives with a stitching flaw, a sole defect, or shipping damage, write within 14 days of delivery with photographs. We send a prepaid return label, recall the pair for inspection, and either replace it or refund the order in full. You do not pay for return shipping in this case.

Size exchanges

Size exchanges are offered within the 30-day window. The first size exchange is free: we send a prepaid return label for the original pair, and we cover the outbound shipping of the new size. If you need a second exchange after that (third pair total), the customer covers return shipping on the second exchange. Sole exchanges (different sole, same upper) are not offered; the boots are built welted and the sole choice is locked at construction.

The US/UK size conversion can mislead. Most US buyers go a half size down from their US sneaker size. Write to support@yardlowandsons.com before the first exchange and we will read the description with you to lock the right next size.

Returns outside the 30-day window

Past the 30 days, write anyway. Some cases work case by case (a delayed gift, a misdelivered box, a defect that surfaced late). We make no promises but we read every email.

Your statutory rights

This policy adds to, and does not replace, your statutory rights as a US consumer. If your home state offers protections beyond what is set out here, those protections still apply.
