We make chelsea boots in oxblood, cognac, and black calf. The Hampton is the black one.

The upper is leather, the lining is leather, the elastic gusset is twin-panel, and the construction is welted so the sole can be replaced when the upper still has life left. The last is rounded — the Hampton last — which means the toe box runs a touch wider than a dress oxford and a touch narrower than a work boot. Built to be worn under suit trousers on Tuesday and over jeans on Saturday.

Resoling. The welt allows the sole to be replaced when the upper still has life left. Take a worn pair to any cobbler in the United States — welted construction is the standard heritage every cobbler knows. We do not run a mail-in service at launch.

The welt is the leather strip that holds the upper to the sole. It is stitched, not glued. The lockstitch row is visible at the base of every Yardlow & Sons boot. When the sole wears, it can be replaced. The upper keeps going.
